Overview

Navitas is ready to invest in you!  We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will design and develop Battery Management System (BMS) control circuits for Lithium-Ion battery systems utilizing Altium software and analysis tools.  They will perform Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout of BMS circuits and assist in system level design of battery packs for new customers.  

 

Estimated salary range: $112-$130,000

 

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Design Battery Management Systems (BMS) control circuits for commercial, military and industrial Lithium-Ion battery pack applications.
  • Conduct requirements capture meetings to define scope of electrical hardware work.
  • Perform all aspects of circuit design and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design for BMS hardware.
  • Perform circuit simulation utilizing Altium.
  • Select proper rating for all components.
  • Perform PCB layout utilizing Altium.
  • Develop Bill of Materials for each BMS control circuit design.
  • Perform BMS PCB development testing to ensure proper functionality.
  • Lead cross functional design review meetings to ensure design meets all stakeholder requirements.
  • Provide complete design outputs for PCB manufacturing and descripting design justification documentation.
  • Perform system level testing and troubleshooting on Lithium-Ion Battery Management Systems and Battery Packs.
  • Develop system level block diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams for Lithium-Ion Battery Systems.
  • Selection of fuses, shunts, terminal blocks, connectors and other electrical devices for battery model and pack systems.
  • Develop BMS and battery test system hardware.
  • Assist in EOL testing of battery packs to ensure proper performance before shipment to customers.
  • Assist in new project bids and proposals regarding electrical concepts, feasibility, scope of work, cost, and timing.
  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions.
  • Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.
  • Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators.
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner.
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering work experience, with at least two years focused on embedded control circuit design

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in the design and layout of complex PCB boards
  • Subject matter expertise in analog & digital electronic circuits with embedded microprocessors
  • Altium and LTspice proficiency preferred
  • DFMEA composition experience for electrical systems
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and visual
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Lithium-Ion battery product experience is a plus
  • Experience in the use of CANalyzer preferred
  • Design for EMC/EMI expertise preferred
