Navitas is ready to invest in you!  We are seeking an experienced Scientist/Engineer in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will work as part of the research & development team, will work under the direction of senior technical staff members to produce, test and evaluate lithium battery materials, electrodes, other cell components, and cells.  Laboratory work in this career stage is emphasized.

Estimated salary range:  $55,000-$65,000

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

• Conduct chemistry-type laboratory work to prepare battery material samples, battery electrodes, and lithium battery test cells.
• Operate lab equipment, including cell assembly equipment, mixing and coating equipment, cell testing equipment, glove boxes, optical and electron microscopes, and analytical instruments.
• Test data work up, visualization, interpretation and reporting.
• Utilize cell models and tools to design and analyze electrodes and cells.
• Write and contribute to reports and presentations as directed.
• Present data and conclusions to the senior technical staff.
• Participate in lab management functions (equipment/assets/area hygiene, maintenance and management; chemical hygiene; environment, health and safety; quality system; etc.) as assigned.
• Comply with Navitas policies and procedures.
• On site presence is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• BS (including new graduates) in chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or materials science/engineering.
• MS candidates will be considered for this role.
• Other STEM degree areas will be considered, generally with 2+ years of battery industry experience.
• Some individuals may qualify for Laboratory Technician, Scientist II+, or Research Scientist (Ph.D.) roles.
• Lithium/lithium-ion battery coursework or industry experience is preferred.
• Experience in one or more areas is preferred: battery industry, battery science/technology, materials synthesis, materials analysis, electrode mixing/coating, lithium cell assembly, battery cell formation, battery cell testing.
