Overview

Navitas is ready to invest in you!  We are seeking an Packaging Clerk in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will be responsible for all activities related to the preparing and packaging of finished batteries for shipping, including managing non-inventory shipping materials, packing batteries in dunnage, ensuring the quality of reusable shipping dunnage, preparing serial number information, and loading compliant pallets per internal and external requirements.

 

This position pays $18.50 per hour.

 

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and prepare packaging materials to include shipping containers and associated parts, shipping crates, foam, labels, pallets, and any other packaging materials required for shipping
  • Become high voltage certified and maintain certification through safe practices and mandated refresher/recertification training
  • Handle high voltage battery packs and cells safely
  • Work independently to ensure completed and approved packs are packaged in a timely manner.
  • Perform according to approved KPIs related to On Time Shipments and Accuracy
  • Maintain and manage expense items required for Sonobuoy Pack Production
  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
  • Efficiently following the orders of the supervising authority and reporting to the same.
  • Pulling and preparing supplies as required by job function
  • Inspecting returned dunnage, making note of any damages and discrepancies, and immediately reporting the same and ensuring timely reporting of any suspect material damage
  • Perform final visual inspection of outgoing shipments to ensure no damage or discrepancies prior to shipping
  • Obtain and maintain Hazardous Materials training for Ground shipments in order to prepare and load hazardous materials for transport
  • Work with Warehouse and Pack teams and supervisors to maintain Pack Line raw material inventory
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory as required
  • Proposing suggestions to the supervisor with regard to the documentation, storage and procurement of goods
  • Coordinating with the transporter and other workers of the organization for smooth shipping of goods and return of dunnage
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Completing all legal formalities, procedures, and paperwork for receiving the goods
  • Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions
  • Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed
  • Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team
  • Proactively support Production and Inventory activities when Pack activities are complete
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 1 year of warehouse experience
  • Previous Hi Lo experience a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Individuals must be comfortable building products for US military testing and use.
  • Previous high voltage and/or hazardous materials training / certification preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills required
  • Exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and strong decision-making capabilities required
  • Proven teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently
  • High level of creativity and problem-solving skills

 

ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the individual must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
