Overview

Navitas is ready to invest in you!  We are seeking an experienced Test Engineering Supervisor in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will lead and manage a team of Test Engineers and Technicians responsible for testing activities in production, warranty, and Design Verification/Product Validation (DV/PV). This role involves approving timecards, conducting one-on-one meetings with direct reports, and providing weekly KPI updates to the Director of Manufacturing Technologies. 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Test Engineers and Technicians
  • Approve timecards and manage daily assignments and priorities
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide feedback and support
  • Oversee production testing, warranty testing, and DV/PV testing of battery modules, electronics, software, and packs
  • Review and update test procedures and specifications in collaboration with the development team
  • Manage test equipment suppliers and test labs to support product development goals
  • Perform root cause analysis of test failures and recommend corrective actions to the development team.
  • Assist in new project bids and proposals regarding testing feasibility, scope of work, cost, and timing
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain physical presence on the job, including weekends and holidays if deemed necessary
  • Develop and execute product verification test plans
  • Prepare and present weekly KPI reports to the Director of Manufacturing Technologies
  • Support production acceptance test hardware procedures and reports for battery pack testing
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
  • 3+ years of work experience in product testing and validation
  • Work experience in battery module and/or pack level testing and validation is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comfortable supporting US military-funded work and building products for military testing and use.
  • Experience in design validation planning to customer requirements using DFMEA and DVP&R is a plus
  • Familiarity with battery cycling equipment programming, maintenance, and operation is a plus
  • Experience with environmental testing (shock, vibration, thermal) is a plus
  • Experience in battery safety testing (UNDOT 38.3, SAE J2464) is a plus
  • Proficient in designing and writing test control programs in LabVIEW (or similar test software)
  • Experience working with CAN (Controller Area Network), preferably with CANalyzer or similar software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Data report automation experience (Excel macros, VBA, Python, etc.) is a plus.

 

ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the employee must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
