Overview

Navitas is ready to invest in you! We are seeking an Operations Project Management Intern in Ann Arbor, Michigan to assist with tracking, analyzing, and optimizing the company’s project portfolio, while also gaining hands-on experience in cross-functional collaboration, KPI reporting, and the functional use of AI in project management. The intern will be assigned a project and mentored by a staff member this fall from approximately September to November.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining the Operations Project Portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that present key performance indicators (KPIs), resource utilization, timelines, budgets, and at-a-glance project statuses.
  • Support portfolio analysis and reporting efforts using tools like Smartsheet, Excel, and other BI tools.
  • Apply AI-powered tools and techniques to streamline project tracking, risk assessment, and stakeholder updates.
  • Work with Project Owners and team leads to collect data and ensure portfolio updates are accurate and timely.
  • Help identify portfolio-level risks, conflicts, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders across Operational groups.
  • Comply with Navitas policies and procedures.
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education: Interns are generally college students pursuing STEM degree programs.  There are no specific restrictions on major, graduation year, or progress.

 

Preferred Experience: Project management exposure or some coursework including project management methodologies and data visualization tools is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Individuals must be comfortable supporting US military-funded work.
  • Experience (academic or practical) with Smartsheet or similar project and portfolio management tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, AI assistants in project tools, or no-code AI platforms) to enhance productivity and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the individual must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
