Overview

Navitas is ready to invest in you! We are seeking a Lean Manufacturing Intern in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will assist with developing improved and more efficient methods for manufacturing operators without sacrificing safety or quality. The intern will be assigned a project or projects and mentored by a senior staff member this fall from approximately September to November.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with identifying process issues and develop corrective actions
  • Identify efficiency opportunities, prove them out, then implement changes
  • Support associate issues to develop resolutions or communicate proper assembly techniques
  • Assist with developing and maintaining work instructions
  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures, update as necessary for design changes or efficiency improvements
  • Troubleshoot process related issues affecting safety and product quality
  • Monitor & maintain equipment to meet company standards
  • Develop, write, and follow standard operating procedures and methods
  • Follow approved ESD prevention practices
  • Perform time studies of manufacturing processes; identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Comply with Navitas policies and procedures
  • Perform in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions
  • On site presence is essential and necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education: Interns are generally college students pursuing STEM degree programs. There are no specific restrictions on major, graduation year, or progress.

 

Preferred experience: Battery (or related) industry exposure or some coursework including battery science/technology is preferred but not required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Individuals must be comfortable supporting US military-funded work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate with coworkers and management
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities

 

ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the employee must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
