Overview

The Group Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple divisions within the organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective internal controls. The Group Controller will lead a team of finance professionals and collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and drive financial performance.

Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Report financial results to senior management and stakeholders.

 

  1. Accounting Oversight
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and ensure proper classification of transactions.
  • Complete and review account reconciliations.

 

  1. Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Design and document internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Coordinate audits (internal and external) and manage audit readiness.

 

  1. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
  • Prepare 13-week cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee treasury functions including investments and debt management.

 

  1. Financial Systems & Process Improvement
  • Implement and maintain financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms).
  • Streamline accounting processes and automate reporting where possible.
  • Ensure data accuracy and system security.

 

  1. Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process
  • 5+ years of experience working as a controller for a manufacturing business
  • “Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and financial technology solutions
  • Must maintain highest level of confidentiality and highest ethical practice
  • Must possess good decision-making abilities
  • Must take initiative and drive tasks to completion
  • Must have a strong analytical background as demonstrated through well documented analyses
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
